Character PERSONALITY:

Tendou Souji was reared by his grandmother, and she always taught him to believe in himself. The belief did tend to jump right into the deep end of blatant overconfidence and arrogance, rather than self-confidence, but nonetheless he had a firm belief in himself that only grew stronger with age. As a result, Tendou grew up to become an incredibly talented and self-assured guy, with little grasp on the concept of humbling yourself around friends, family...complete strangers. Anyone. This was partially due to the fact that he was, well, talented and skilled at everything. He's one of the world's greatest chefs, excels at every kind of sport, is a master at several forms of self defense and even had enough intimate knowledge of law enforcement that he fooled an entire police force into believing he was an FBI agent, and kept it going for quite some time without others ever being aware he was faking it. It seems that if something relates to his interests, he simply has enough intelligence to pick up and master it in short amounts of time.

As a result of his self-assured personality, he also remains level headed even in times when everyone else panics. Nothing seems to faze him short of very rare circumstances. This is also part of the reason he appears overconfident at all times, an example of which is he simply ignored someone who tried to attack him with a knife as they fled someone they had just mugged, walking on calmly. Of course the other reason for his overconfident appearance is he has no qualms outright telling other people he is better than them. Despite this, his superiority complex doesn't mean he will shun or ignore others. Just because he states he is better than a person doesn't mean he doesn't want to talk to them or befriend them and Tendou is actually quite friendly. As long as you can look passed his ego, he otherwise is pleasant company to keep around and a reliable friend.

Despite his general demeanor, Tendou is also quite playful and lighthearted. He'll joke around if he thinks he can afford to(which, considering his level-headedness, means sometimes he does so while other people are freaking out about dangerous situations) and seems to enjoy joking at other people's expense, but it's never too serious. He rarely finds joy in actually making other people upset by insulting them, just teasing others to an extent. This is especially prominent in his interactions with his adopted sister Juka where the two get along in a more agreeable brother/sister relationship yet still tease and provoke each other in a childish manner.

Now, regarding the times Tendou isn't his usual calm self, he can be quite different from what people expect of him. When he spent quite a few episodes trying to find/protect his real sister Hiyori, who he believed was in danger, he suddenly became incredibly serious and surprisingly violent. He attacked everyone who he believed was going to get in his way, even the other protagonists of the series, and mercilessly killed every single antagonist, aliens known as worm, that tried to get between him and HIyori. His recklessness can also cloud his usual levels of judgement, and he even blunders occasionally while angered, but this won't get in his way for long. If he's defeated while angered, he will learn from his mistakes, he will overcome them.

Finally, despite everything and his self-confident nature, Tendou loves humanity. He will always do the right thing and save them, no matter how much they hate him. Even in one of the later episodes when humanity believes he is a threat and he's basically declared public enemy number one, he still casually walks about public streets and does what he has to do in order to save it, because it's simply the right thing to do. He's not above self-sacrifice and will never sugarcoat words, simply doing what he has to do in order to get the job done and protect everything he wishes to protect. He's a deeply caring individual and a steadfast friend, and in reality it doesn't take much on the part of others to have him begin looking out for them either. He generally takes a shine to most people, despite outwardly appearing anti-social. Another thing about Tendou is, to him, humanity as a whole isn't the only thing worth protecting. As long as someone can live alongside others without hurting them for selfish reasons, then he will protect them.

Chosen WEAPON: Tendou will get the Kabuto Zecter/Hyper Zecter back, which he lost during the final episode after having saved the world.

First PERSON: [When Tendou shows up on screen, he's holding a pair of sunglasses between his fingers.]

I don't blame you for taking me here. A world with no sun will never prosper, that is why I am needed. However...I don't work well with large organizations. They're never large enough to contain me.

Despite that, the real reason I can't afford to help you all is...

[He bows his head, putting his sunglasses onto his face, then returns looking right into the video.]

...you've caught me at a bad time. I'm still on vacation, even if I have to make the remainder of it here, I'll still make the most of my time off.

If you'll excuse me.

[And the feed goes off.]

Third PERSON: "This is terrible."

The future really didn't offer much in the way of good food to his standards, but then his own time didn't either. Almost nowhere did, actually, but especially dystopian futures ruled by oppressive governments. Tendou forced himself past the person who had moments ago handled the food he was given and began intrusively inspecting the ingredients they were using, accompanied by a lot of exasperated sighs and shaking his head.

Naturally they weren't too happy about his attitude so attempted to interrupt him and shoo him away, but Tendou isn't all that responsive or agreeable to them; instead he raises a hand, and then his index finger, gesturing for them to stop talking and wait. He begins making adjustments to their broth, adding extra little things here and there, giving it a stir and then samples it himself. Perfect.

He ladles some of the broth into a small dish then holds it out to the random NPC cook.

"Try it."

They look a little unsure, but he remains still, staring at them.

"It's good."

The other accepts the dish and slowly sips some of the contents, their expression lighting up as they taste it. Seeing this, Tendou finally leaves and begins walking away before they can say anything, raising his hand with his back still turned in a farewell gesture.

"Consider that your payment. You should get a lot more business with cooking of that standard, so in the long run I've paid you back a hundredfold."

And with nothing left to say, he leaves them to their work.
